Col Maureen K. Maphies is the Deputy Commander of the 120th Airlift Wing Great Falls, Montana. As the Deputy Commander, she assists the Wing Commander to administer wing policies, directives, regulations, and agreements. She also assists in the preparation of federal and state budgets necessary for the support of the wing. Col Maphies is also responsible for assisting the Wing Commander with maintaining the combat readiness of the 120th Airlift Wing in the event of an order to active duty for national or state emergencies.
Col Maphies joined the Montana Air National Guard in 1997 and after completing her technical training as an F-16 Aircraft Engine Mechanic in 1998, she was assigned to the 120th Fighter Wing. She cross-trained into the Personnel career field in 2002 and served as the Wing Commander’s Executive Assistant. In 2006, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Park University, and in 2007, Col Maphies received her commission from the Academy of Military Sciences and in 2011 earned a Master of Science degree from Troy State University. Col Maphies deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Also, during her commission, she has served as the Military Personnel Management Officer, Installation Deployment Officer, Wing Executive Staff Officer, and Force Support Squadron Commander. Prior to assuming her current position, Col Maphies served as the Human Resources Director for Joint Force Headquarters Helena, Montana.
