Twenty operations and maintenance personnel assigned to the 120th Airlift Wing of the Montana Air National Guard arrived home from a deployment to Southwest Asia January 6.

A reception consisting of MTANG leadership, family members and friends assembled to greet the Airmen at the boarding area of the Great Falls International Airport.

The Airmen served in the first large-scale deployment for the 120th AW.

The unit participated in previous deployments prior to its mission conversion to an airlift wing. Previous trips included its personnel deploying with F-16 Fighting Falcons to Iraq in 2004 and 2008 and to Korea in 2006. Airmen and aircraft also deployed to Hawaii in 2010 and Alaska in 2013 following the wing’s conversion to the F-15 Eagle.

The MTANG personnel were part of a larger contingent of Airmen who deployed with the wing’s C-130 Hercules aircraft in late October.
