Col. Mark Snyder, the commander of the 120th Medical Group, retired during a retirement ceremony held at the Great Falls Air Host, Sept. 9 after 41 years military service.

Snyder completed 15 years serving with the Montana Air National Guard and will continue in his civilian profession as an anesthesiologist.

The ceremony highlighted many of Snyder’s accomplishments, including earning the title of flight surgeon. Snyder logged more than 793 hours in 24 aircraft with more than 525 in the F-16 Fighting Falcon alone.

The 120th MDG was named the number one medical group in the Air National Guard during his command.

”Your legacy will not be the awards and what you accomplished as a medical group commander,” said MTANG Chief of Staff Brig. Gen. J. Peter Hronek. “Your legacy is the esprit de corps and professionals you brought to the medical group that makes it a great group.”

Snyder said his wife was relieved to hear he was retiring and his son, was happy to have him home more.

Family and friends joined Snyder during the event to congratulate him on his military retirement.
